Trump, Tillerson, North Korea: Republican Humiliation of America Continues
On a visit to China last week, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson stated that the United States had behind-the-scenes channels of communications with North Korea. Within hours, President Trump published a Tweet admonishing Tillerson not to “waste his time” talking with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. “Save your energy Rex, we’ll do what has to be done!”
We were already witnessing the incredible spectacle of the Trump Administration imploding as the President with the lowest approval rating in history demeans his country and the office of president with mean-spirited, unjustified attacks on Santa Cruz Mayor Cruz for attacking the ineptness and incompetence of Trump’s response to the devastation of Hurricane Maria.
Now America is further humiliated in the eyes of the world with a public demonstration of a total disconnect between Trump and his Secretary of State. The ineptness and lack of any coherent decision-making is laid bare–along with the Republican Party’s demonstrative unfitness to govern.
This is what the Republican Party has given us as President. Donald Trump, remember, represents the heart and soul of Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, Orrin Hatch, Nikki Haley, et al. We see the end product of their endorsement and continuing support for Donald Trump. The Republicans want Trump as president to sign their tax cuts for the rich, and the rest of the country–including Puerto Rico–be damned. Republicans are morally and intellectually bankrupt, without shame. Ryan, McConnell, Hatch, and Haley have gone far beyond McCarthyism and Watergate in destroying all America stands for.
